Hamilton

Machine translation pending human review. Figures and sources match the original.

Hamilton was born in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, by buying the bankrupt Keystone Standard Watch Company, and became famous for railroad-grade precision watches. During the Second World War it supplied marine chronometers to the US military. In 1957 it presented the Electric 500, the first electric watch, along with the asymmetrical Ventura case. It closed Lancaster in 1969, moved production to Switzerland and in 1984 was absorbed into what is now the Swatch Group.
