Hublot

Machine translation pending human review. Figures and sources match the original.

Carlo Crocco left the Binda group in 1976 and in 1980 launched MDM Genève, whose first watch, called Hublot after its porthole shape, combined gold and rubber. That mix, controversial at the time, was the seed of the brand. Jean-Claude Biver arrived in 2004 and in spring 2005 presented the Big Bang, which sent sales soaring. Crocco sold to LVMH in 2008, and since then Hublot has pressed on with proprietary materials such as Magic Gold and coloured ceramics.
