Orient

Machine translation pending human review. Figures and sources match the original.

Orient traces back to the shop Shogoro Yoshida opened in Tokyo in 1901 and to Toyo Tokei of 1920, but today's company was born in 1950 in Hino after that firm closed. In 1951 it launched the first Orient Star. In 1967 it presented the Fineness, the thinnest automatic watch of its time with day and date. Seiko Epson took a majority in 2001 and full ownership in 2009, and in 2017 folded the watch business into Epson.
