The brothers Fritz, Ernst and Werner Schlup set up Schlup & Co. in Lengnau in 1917, in their parents' home, and turned it into one of the largest Swiss movement makers. The Rado name took over in the 1950s. The 1962 DiaStar was presented as the first scratch-resistant watch, and in the 1980s the brand brought high-tech ceramic to watchmaking. Today it belongs to the Swatch Group and remains in Lengnau.
