Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei showed the first Urwerk watches at Baselworld in April 1997, with Thomas Baumgartner alongside them in the early years. Their signature is the satellite hour: discs that orbit and travel along a minutes arc instead of conventional hands. From 2007 the 200 series added air turbines and telescopic minute hands. The brand has won the GPHG Audacity Prize with its AMC system.
